Day 119

Donna has these fabulous orchids. I would love to be able to make some pictures that really do them justice. This is in very hard window light - I would need a diffuser, a reflector and a black backdrop to get the lighting right, and the big camera to capture the details. But this 365 is for iPhone photos only, so here you go!

Day 118

We went morel hunting this evening, in an event organized by Dallas County Conservation in Kuehn Conservation Area. After a slow start, we bagged a nice baker's dozen, including this beauty! It was a beautiful evening, and we had great fun even without the 'shrooms. I wonder what's for supper?

Day 117

There's nothing nicer after a long day at work (and we start at noon!) than a good drink. These are some serious Long Island Iced Teas that we are about to enjoy (responsibly, of course!).

Here are two of our four new foster kitties. They all look very similar, so we're probably going to have to get different-coloured collars so that we can identify them. They'll soon be looking for homes...

Today, Prairieland Herbs was honored by an unexpected visit from the world-famous Chicken Hat. The esteemed headgear, whose name is spoken in reverent whispers, came to Woodward this afternoon, and caused all other activities to pale into oblivion. The banty bonnet has become a leghorn legend in the world of poultry millinery. Here, Maggie has her "capon" - not all of us could "pullet" off!

Some more gratuitous camera porn. The 70-200 f/2.8 VR is probably one of Nikon's best ever lenses.

Day 112

Another funny sign in Boone, Iowa. This one was outside a farm supplies shop, and it referred to baby fowl - ducklings, goslings, and chicks. Oh well.

I love half.com! You find great bargains in used books there. These two beauties cost me a total of $12.84 - including shipping. Now, that's what I call a bargain :)

The last time I took a pic of a tulip, I had difficulty getting a steady image because of the wind. Here, I deliberately twisted my iPhone as I made the exposure - I like the effect.

It's a beautiful day, and we're going to do hotpot! I am going to try to photograph the process (if I don't get too distracted by its deliciousness, or the good company we'll have) to do as a step-by-step tutorial on Blog. Here are some of the goodies on my impromptu "shooting table".

Day 106

Another asparagus picture - this time the vegetable after which my cat is named. This delectable bunch came from Blue Gate Farm, their first crop of the year. It was delicious!

Day 105

I get to play with a PC-E Micro Nikkor 85mm f/2.8D for a while. This lens has movements - it can be tilted, as in the photo, and shifted off axis - this allows control over perspective and depth of field. I'm really looking forward to testing it - it should be great for doing product shots and architectural scenes.

Saw my first tulips of the Spring today. I thought it would be nice to snap a quick pic for the Blog, but it was so windy that on occasion the flower was whisked right out of the frame! This is certainly not High Art, but that's iPhone photography for you!

Day 100-102

Had a bit of a hiccup in the 365 project due to some late nights. The pictures were, however, taken on the day.


Day 100. A shadow cast through a really nice wine glass.

Day 101. The "Gypsy Ladies'" tent at Sample Sunday - much fun was had and magic abounded as Dawn, Melodie and Lynn did their stuff.

Day 102. Glass harp - a treasured souvenir of Ireland, given to me by the man who made it.

Happy Easter! This is my idea of Easter bliss - Cadbury's Mini Eggs from both sides of the Atlantic, dark and milk chocolate - utterly yummy!

This is a detail of a gift box that contained a couple of fabulous hand-coloured Easter eggs that we got from a good and very artistic friend.

My new Firewire card reader. It's about twice as fast as my USB reader, and I got it free when I bought a card - now that's decent value!

I don't have my iPhone this evening. Donna's phone had locked up, so I took it home to see if I could fix it, and I left mine with her, because it's so important she has a phone. I took this pic with her phone - it doesn't break the rules of this 365,  'cos I wrote them!
