Some corn cribs that we saw on our drive on Saturday. These were taken on the Ansco, on T-Max 100. I did a little Photoshopping on some of these images - straightening, dust spotting and cropping.

This is the first image from the 75-year old Ansco (Agfa) Shur-Shot box camera that we got at the Junk Jubilee on Friday. This is straight out of the camera - the "UFO" is a hole in the emulsion.

All taken with the M6/Summicron 50 on 1998 vintage Tri-X, and developed in D-76. The only post-processing (if any) would be straightening, dust removal, and very slight cropping.

Woks - many of the shopkeepers asked that we didn't photograph in their stores, but this is from the very wonderful "Woks 'n' Things" on South Wentworth - it's an oriental Williams Sonoma, but with very much better prices!

All these were taken with the Leica M6/50mm Summicron on twelve year old Tri-X 400.

We had an analogue-fest yesterday, at the Des Moines Music Collectors' Show. We had great fun, got some nice records (including Abbey Road, The Dark Side of the Moon, and The Táin (probably my favoutitest album ever)). And I got a few nice photos with the Leica. Here are the scans, totally unretouched:

There was a huge selection of records of all genres for sale...

...though some preferred digital distractions.

Minerva

This is one of our foster cats, Minerva. She came to us with a litter of kittens, having had apparently, a most unpleasant kittenhood. She is only now learning to play, and to do normal kitty things. She had been spayed, and is up to date on her shots and vaccinations. If you think you can give this beautiful girl the wonderful home she deserves, contact Panora P.E.T.S.

IKONIX Workshops - Part 2

I brought my Leica along to the workshop, and a couple of rolls of Tri-X. I developed and scanned them yesterday, and here are the results:

It was close, but the film crisis has temporarily been averted!

First Prints from the Hasselblad

Well, I couldn't wait any longer - I developed the roll of Ilford Delta 400 that I ran through the SWC yesterday. There is some fogging of the film along the left side of the prints, that is present but varies considerably from frame to frame. I'd like to try to find out what's causing this - if it were firing on all cylinders, this camera would be an absolute joy.

No Hassle!

I got a loan of this beauty to play with - it's a Hasselblad Super Wide C, with a 38 mm f/4.5 Zeiss Biogon lens. It seems to be working OK, and it's now loaded with film, so I'm going shooting. Bye!

Another First

This could well be the worst photograph I have ever taken, but I'm pretty pleased with it all the same. It's just a view out through our living room window, but it is my first ever picture taken with a large-format camera.

Camera: Calumet 4x5
Lens: Caltar 150mm f5.6
Film: Polaroid 55 (No expiry date, but believed to be over 15 years old)
Exposure: 1/4 sec @ f/8

I'm not sure if the lightness of the image is due to
(a) overexposure (scene metered at 1/4 @ f/11)
(b) underdevelopment, or development at a temperature lower than the recommended 70 F
(c) the age of the film, or a combination of the above.

I learned a couple of lessons from this, including to double-check that all the camera movements are locked down properly, and be careful with the envelope (dark slide).

But oh, what fun!!!

Daphne Willis sings...

...at a private house concert last year. These are from one of the first rolls I put through the Leica, some 18-year old Kodak 3200 - a very unfair way to trial-run any camera! The negs turned out extremely thin with boulder-sized grain, and I think it's a tribute to our scanner that it was able to pull these images out of the gloom.
