Donna's Garden

I got to play with the new Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8 yesterday. It is a truly amazing lens! I see a lot of wide-angle photography in my future!

Day 103

Saw my first tulips of the Spring today. I thought it would be nice to snap a quick pic for the Blog, but it was so windy that on occasion the flower was whisked right out of the frame! This is certainly not High Art, but that's iPhone photography for you!

These lilac leaves were only buds yesterday! I love Spring!

Day 88

The first crocus I've seen in our garden! I love crocuses - they're a sure sign that Spring has sprung :)

Ice Storm

We had freezing rain last night, and the hoarfrost has gone, now replaced by ice. I know it's bad for trees and power lines, but it makes for some splendid photo opportunities. These are a few I took this morning, before chickening out, and heading back indoors - in spite of my ample clothing and Yaktrax, it was icky, and my camera was getting wetter than I like. Anyway, enjoy the pictures....

Herb Harvest

Maggie has been very busy harvesting herbs from the garden before the frost that those nice weathermen promised us for the end of the week.

These beauties will be distilled into hydrosols, and made into other wonderful Prairieland Herbs goodies.

Birthday Bash

Prairieland Herbs recently celebrated their eleventh anniversary with a big Sample Sunday at the farm. As well as special sale prices and free gifts, there were lots of guest vendors who did crafts, fibre, spinning, Reiki, massage, music and food.

Jen and Steffen Heins promoting Steffen's band, The Homegrown Tomatoes.

Reiki practitioner Lynn and massage therapist Dawn.

Henna tattoos

Violet is not a bit bothered by all the kerfuffle!

Buckeye Leaf

I have taken only very few pictures with my iPhone camera yet, so I'm still not sure of its capabilities. However the best camera is the one that you have, and I'm going to have it a lot :)

This buckeye leaf was lying on the deck outside the shop today.

We saw this handsome fellow chillin' in the shade in the Prairieland Herbs gardem this morning.

Butterfly and Coneflower

For some time, I have hoped to get a photograph that closely resembled the Prairieland Herbs logo. I don't think this is too far off:

Magic at Work

In spite of Winter's best efforts to dampen our spirits, there is Magic working in our backyard:

Here are our Tibetan prayer flags, still waving in the breeze, and working to bring us blessings despite being laden with icicles...

...and Kokopelli, refusing to be stifled, summons Spring from beneath a mantle of Valentine's Day snow.
Good things are coming our way!

Happy New Year!

OK, a bit late, but that's better than never, right?

Here's a view from our deck this morning.

And one from our front porch this evening.

Spring is Sprung

At last! It's great to see things greening up nicely, and flowers and blossoms on the plants and trees. I got these shots down on the farm yesterday.
